my Ear, Nose, Throat specialist (who I want to call my ENTologist) told me that my x-rays indicate new infection - so the antrial lavage of last month has effectively angered the infection, causing it to spread to the right lower sinus cavity.
Apparently I've already undergone the most effective treatment. There is a slight chance the infection is caused by issues with the roots of my upper teeth so I am scheduled for x-rays next week.
still, this can't be good to involve my dentist!! At the very least, it's a double antrial lavage (prepare for visual image! Skip down if you don't like needles!! The visual image: two needles, both nostrils)
The antrial lavage includes a flush/rinse of liquid antibiotics and, at my suggestion, possible follow-up with oral antibiotics.
I really don't like this situation ... and this is the more mundane of my issues.
TELL EVERYONE TO STOP USING ANTIBIOTIC SOAP!!! I can't help but think this kind of thing is going to be more common. Right now it's all about people with high-risk / compromised immune systems. You hear about us all the time. We're the ones who need flu shots. But someday in the future, the general population will have to deal with more and more intense antibiotics. I don't have the research right now to back this up, so consider this a paraphrase of every newspaper / health magazine article I've ever read on the subject.
