Wasteland

Specifically, TV. Even more specifically, end of summer TV.

I managed to finish catching up on the shows that I'd DVRed while at Pennsic by Monday (which I had taken off for whatever reason). Several of those shows were 'end of mid-season' episodes, and because of that, weeknight TV is getting less and less interesting. I've been watching stuff thats only semi-interesting, like that "Legend Quest" show that want's to be "Brad Meltzer's Decoded" without all of the proofs behind the ridiculous speculation, like the tenuous links that this past week led the quester from Scotland to the original torch of the Statue of Liberty in search of the Holy Grail. Fortunately, there's still some good stuff going - Burn Notice, Suits, Leverage, The Closer, Top Shot's new season, and as of next Saturday, Dr Who!

The real problem is that there isn't much else to do around here in the evenings. I've only got 4 video games available to play, and one, Dragon Age 2, I only still have because I'm eagerly awaiting new DLC (downloaded content) like the recently acquired Legacy, which is a little short but nice. I got Duke Nukem, but it's a real pain since it doesn't have nearly enough save points and I can't aim worth a damn. I suppose I could make some more headway in my purchased DVDs (and I might have to anyway if the wet summer turns into an equally wet fall - I've got Dish Network as my cable provider, so when the sky gets too overcast, I lose the signal ...). Reading works, but only for so long. Playing computer games (as separate from video games) would work if I had any (if only Diablo III would come out!).

It would be perfect for writing if my muse wasn't on vacation. I'm trying to keep my spending in check so there's no Lego to build, but that only lasts for a short while anyway. Basically, I'm bored. I hate being bored.

(We'll talk about the other wasteland some other time.)
