Unlike most days when we go out shopping, Chuck was the one with an agenda, and I'm the one who wound up randomly buying something. Clothes, in this instance.
We went to Macy's, and when I went to pay, the girl said to me, "You probably get this a lot, but you look just like the Filipino guy from Black Eyed Peas." I thought to myself, "Sure, Apl is Filipino and half-black, but my skin isn't that dark. Maybe she means Taboo, the Mexican, because of my long hair and sharp facial features. After all, I always say that the Philippines is just Mexico in Asia." I told her this, but she kept insisting that she didn't think she meant Taboo.
During the process she asked me if I was Filipino. Maybe I should have asked her if she was and let the conversation drag on.
Now I'm at home and looking stuff up on the internet. Hmm... When Apl had long hair, maybe... And Taboo's facial features are much sharper than mine. I could go either way, depending on the photo, though. But here's the crazy thing. Apl's from the Pampanga region!
A little background. My last name is one of the few non-Spanish surnames, and it can be traced (and still exists) mostly in the Pampanga region. Maybe Apl and I share some blood somewhere down the line. I should go back to Macy's and report my findings.
