This year's i12 show

Holy crap, police out in force! In just one short stretch of road, we passed a cop standing on the side of the road, radar gun pointing out (though my detector oddly didn't get set off.) In the valley behind him were three cars ready to intercept speeders. If that weren't crazy enough, just a moment later, after cresting the hill, we see no less than five cruisers, lights glaring with people already pulled over. That's just the most extreme example, but yeah, po-po everywhere.

Tyler and I arrived some time between 8:15 and 8:30; show was at 9:30, but doors opened at 8. I was a bit worried that we might not be able to get in, judging from the long line last year and the usual huge turnout for the hometown heroes' rare shows. There was no longer a line at the door, so I was worried that they'd already sold out. Nope. Place was mysteriously not-full. Instead of taking a place in front of the stage, we decided against being potentially crushed during the pit moments and went up to the balcony. We met up with Danny and Rebecca, who were perched right in the center. He said that they'd arrived at around 6:30. He was sportin' the new Delorean i12 tee, as was I (along with the rest of my brown-colored ensemble), but I didn't really notice (m)any other people with band shirts, official or homemade.

Hatrick opened, with the lead guitarist in a suit. A monkey suit. No, not a tuxedo. A gorilla costume.

Inspection 12 show was shorter than last year, but still totally rockin'. Guest stars aplenty, including Ryan Key, who was behind us peering over our shoulders at our prime real estate at the beginning of the set. I got the whole thing recorded, as well as double-timing my other hand with my regular camera. There are a few messy shots on the film because of my having to juggle the two. I brought three blank tapes, so all I needed was an opportune time to switch them out. Fortunately their encore break happened right at the end of the first tape, so that worked out perfectly.

I plan to put the show on DVD, and probably offer up copies on the i12 message board for cost of materials & postage. After making sure the band's cool with it, of course. I don't have any front-end B-roll footage, unfortunately, so I likely won't do anything elaborate with the production; probably just a straight tape-to-DVD transfer. If anything, I'll see what I can do with my photos.
