The scars are really from Mensur ("academic fencing, fought with "schlager" blades).

I like Sabre a great deal, though I didn't do that much work on it (I dunno, maybe 8-10 lessons, though most of those were directly with Maestro Ramon Matrinez). Haven't picked it up in ages, of course.

Mind, my foil is quite agressive, and not really calculating except maybe when I watch a match with someone I intend to fence later.

Yeah, you're Italian style foil. I'm sort of French-Spanish.

Sabre, however, is not looking likely in the near future for me. If we get back to fencing, we're talking foil and smallsword, I'd guess.

Sabre was my favorite as well. The fighting style associated with it is far more instinctive than that of the sword and (especially) foil.

I was bad at it, though (still better than with a foil, at least). My best was the sword, but I didn't like it as much as the saber.
