I didn't sign up for
purimgifts, but I wound up pinch-hitting, and I had such a fun time. (I didn't plan it this way, but I wound up writing in 3 completely new fandoms for me: 1 contemporary, 1 fannish classic and 1 19th century literature.)
In keeping with the theme of the holiday, all treats must center around characters who are women and/or Jewish and/or persecuted by an evil vizier. But this being fandom, that still leaves a lot of room. :) Anyway, read this year's fics
here.
A few of the fics I particularly liked:
Gathering Pace (Good Wife): Diane muses on getting older.
Enter Sports Metaphor Here (Gilmore Girls/Sports Night): Rory goes to work for Sports Night. Hilarity ensues.
Self Portrait as the Allegory (Hebrew Bible/Artists RPF): Artemisia Gentileschi paints "Judith Slaying Holofernes". Warning for references to rape.
Best Part of Waking Up (White Collar): June being awesome, per usual.
And finally, a truly "only in Purimgifts" moment:
A Learned Woman: I (Post-Biblical Jewish RPF): The first of three fics about Beruriah, one of the all-time great Jewish women of history. You can find the
rest of the series here.
