Basics of the Leptin Diet.
1+2. Eat meals 5-6 hours apart, leave 11-12 hours between dinner to breakfast, finish dinner within 3 hours of bed.
Your body digests food by increasing certain hormones, and the cycle takes about 3 hours. After that 3 hours your body can start burning fat. This schedule maximizes the amount of time you are burning fat. Never snack, only drink water between meals.
3. Do not eat large meals.
Large meals delay the after-meal hormone cylce and fat burning. Large volumes of food stretch the stomach (like popcorn). Large meals also zap energy. Also, high sugar diets decrease metabolism because the system works inefficiently.
4. Eat a high protein breakfast.
Proteins are harder to digest and force the body to work more. The liver uses protein to use fat and sugar, and metabolism slows without it. Metabolism increases 30% for 12 hours after high protein meals. Protein helps stabilize blood sugar levels. Note* soy protein can interfere with the thyroid and decrease metabolism so use whey protein.
5. Reduce carbs.
Eat slightly less carbs than protein. Low carb diets reduce metabolism? No carb diets strain the entire system including the heart and kidneys. "Eat like a pyramid, look like a pyramid!"
