This is so much more than Kyle Whelliston explaining why he came back to do another season of The Mid-Majority. It may be the best opinion piece I've ever read. I say "may" because sigma7 wrote a few good ones himself back in the day. This one reminds me of those.

Dad's cancer has not metasticized, and is confined to a 3 cm spot on his lung. It's also one of the less aggressive kinds, so they're talking surgery, probably to remove the node the cancer is on but probably no follow-on chemo or radiation.
