Let Me Count The Ways

“How long have we known each other for, Sweden?”

( Sweden doesn't answer. He feels like he's knows Finland forever, that there's always been that small, fiercely determined figure tucked somewhere in his peripheral vision. Logically, he knows that there must have been a time before Finland. Logically, he knows this, and it does not hurt his head to know this. )

It starts off slowly, so infinitesimally slow, that Finland doesn't notice it until it is far, far too late and he is drowning in the depths.
