A yearly quiz, of sorts.
Copied from Hagar.

What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Been in a war, even as a rear echelon soldier.

Did you keep your new year's resolutions and will you make more next year?
Nope, I guess not.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I know off.

Did anyone close to you die?
Too many of them. Friends killed on duty during the second Lebanon war.

What countries did you visit?
Israel, far and wide, in places I wish I knew before.

What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A place to do things my way. Some new brushes to paint miniatures at home with.

What dates from 2006 will remain etched in your memory and why?
Probably the 14 and 16 of August, the dates in which the war started, and then me and Hagar decided to hook up.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Improving my fitness and mental conditions ten-folds, reducing my weight and making myself more acceptable in my own sight.

What was your biggest failure this year?
It's hard to tell - it was a year full of loss and under-achieving. All in all, I'm quite happy with not finishing officers course, but this would be my greatest failure yet.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing more then usual. No more then 10 hours of major discomfort and then another 10 hours of healing fast. Yup, i'm durable.

What was the best thing you bought?
I didn’t buy anything from money that I earned besides good food from time to time. So I didn’t buy anything particularly good this year.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
My father, I guess. He helped me through several things, hard things - mainly how to deal with my own trauma from the war, and all of that while managing to keep the stress of my mom. I freaked her a bit with my over-reaction.

Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
Several of the soldiers which I serve with had earned my eternal contempt as racist and barbarians of the worst kind.

What did you spend most of your spare cash on?
The good life. Good food, mainly, my hobbies.

What song will always remind you of 2006?
“Angel of Mercy” - Hammer fall

Happier or sadder?
Mainly more sober. So I guess it means sadder.

Thinner or fatter?
Thinner. With great intent.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sports and learning. I don’t use all the spare time I have. Need to get new books.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Trying to be things that I am not, fighting me in order to get things is not the best way to maintain sanity.

How will you be spending Christmas Hanuka?
At the home base, mostly, sadly.

Did you fall in love in 2006?
Unsurprisingly, yes.

How many one-night-stands?
None. At all.

What was your favorite TV series?
I do not watch TV. The Anime show named Bleach however is the closest thing, though I can’t watch it on TV.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes. Plenty of them, mainly soldiers that serve along with me.

What was the last book you read?
“Garlic and Sapphires” - A book about a restaurant evaluator.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
VNV Nations. Without doubt.

What did you want and get?
To lose weight. Did so.

What did you want and not get?
I wanted to be an Officer in the IDF. Didn’t happen. Can’t say I’m too sorry for that.

What was your favorite film this year?
I’m not sure. Casino Royal would qualify.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not one thing could’ve made this year truly greater or worse.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Dark, gloomy, with outbreaks to brighter, mostly blue and white colors.

What kept you sane?
Me. No one else can.

What celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None.

Who do you miss?
My old friends, those of them that died, and those that still live and are far away due to military service.

Who was the best new person you met this year?
Tough nut.
Hagar.
Though she stands with another couple, which we all know.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Freedom of choice is the most given thing as long as you do not restrain yourself.
The problem, however, is to learn and live this rule.
To be free, is to make choices bound only to your will.
