Spring!
So, I managed not to write at all during my whole term at school. In my defense I waaaas pretty busy, as I kept working 1 day a week the whole time (ug, I am getting to old for that). But yeah, 4 months have passed and I'm going back to work full time next week. Let's see what's new since last we spoke:
1) Educational Status: I completed the first term of my Bakers Apprentice program at George Brown. Not just completed, but did pretty darn well, if I do say so myself. Unfortunately the program is Pass/Fail only, and our grades count for nothing (Nothing!!), but that didn't stop me from trying. I am pretty satisfied with my results, considering I only decided to be a baker in October. I have a lot of photos of what we did in the bake lab (all on Flickr of course), with even more to come, as soon as I upload the rest. I really enjoyed my instructors, and also made some new school buddies that I'm sure I'll see before I go back for the 2nd term in January of 2011. I don't really know what else to say about the program. I learned how to make some breads, some cookies, some pies, and chocolates. I also messed up more than a few things, so I've had some great opportunities to troubleshoot. I am looking forward to the next term though; I'm still far, so far away from being able to call myself a Pastry Chef.
2) Relationship Status: OMG, I have a boyfriend! Yeah, seriously, I know, I'm surprised too. His name is Billy, and we met at a reddit meetup bar. (Yeah yeah, we're both nerds) We've been going out for a month now and it's going very well. He's a U of T grad (PoliSci), really fun, and just the sort of person I've been looking for. Yes, I have some pictures of him, they're also on my camera waiting to be uploaded. I don't know what more to say about that, either. I haven't been in a relationship like this in so long, I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to be giddy about it. I hope the answer is: a LOT, because I am.
3) Location Status: After a long, looong time of convincing ourselves that it was impossible (think The Odd Couple), Chantelle and I are finally going to move in together (and there will be much rejoicing!!). She's actually in the new apartment right now, as she was ready to move in right away and I wanted to wait till school finished up. With the term over I've been given a week's break from work to pack, and this weekend it's going down. Billy is being a doll and coming out from Toronto to help, while Chantelle can sit on the couch like a queen and direct the flow of boxes. We've spent the last month painting and decorating the crap put of the place and I am thrilled at the result. For the first time in my whole life I was able to choose colours and paint my bedroom! Pictures will follow. It's gonna be sad to leave my dad's place, but Vito is taking my room after I leave, so that should be fun for both of them.
That kind of sums things up here, for now anyway. No clue if I'll post more frequently after this, as I don't know what I'll be up to that's worth writing about. So, enjoy this for now!
