I have happy news! Pringles came in 2nd place at the Hamster Derby!
I didnt even know it was going on today until my friend called me yesterday to say she saw a sign up at petco. I called this morning and found out it was today at 2pm. So i got pringles ready and took her over. There were a lot of kids and a pair of college aged guys with a dwarf hammy in a giant cheezitz box. they were videotaping the event (for a blog no doubt)
Pringles got a little freaked out with everything that was going on so she stuffed her pouches full and was super squirmy, but then a weird thing happened. She started to get chill, and just sit on my chest and let me pet her. When I gave her a treat she took it! (you might recall I posted recently about how she had become a little untamed and wouldnt take treats from me any longer)
Well today she was! she was being such a good lil snugglyface.
There was a little girl there who took a shine to me and pringies, and when the judge said it was time to start the race the little girl picked up pringles' ball and headed over. I was like "um..." I think she might have been a little autistic or something but she was very sweet so i let her play with pringles and pet her.
They had two first heats - one for dwarfs and then one for syrians and pringles nailed that one. then they had pringles race the dwarf winners for the final showdown. I think she would have won, but the little girl grabbed pringles' ball during the race and sort of held her back. She still came in second place though.
She won two ribbons and a certificate of participation and some treats and then i bought her a new ball and a puzzle playground cuz she was such a good sport today.
