kawaii LA

willam suggested i go to the fashion district and lil tokyo in LA to find fabric for my craftings. (http://gigglesparkle.etsy.com) so yesterday i did that. I didnt find any of the kawaii fabric i wanted but i got some awesome shiny holographic fabric super cheap. for those of you who dont know, the fashion district is this huge part of downtown LA and the textile area is just blocks and blocks of textile shops, mainly run by surly foreigners. its like Mood in NY or G street fabrics in MD, cept everything is on the sidewalk and the lil shops are small and cramped and everything is like a dollar.

then i got lost and would up in the toy district so i ended up buying a strawberry shortcake wall clock and coat rack.

then i went to lil tokyo and my first stop was Num Num Kawaii, this lil lolita fashion kawaii jewelery place. its super cute but everything was WAY overpriced.

then i found the sanrio store and then a lil tokyo souvenir shop that had so much awesome stuff. i dont know if its exploitation but i love how everything japanese is so smiley. they had all this hamster stuff and even their kitchen supplies have happy faces. the sponges have lil happy fox faces and things. come on America! why cant we have that?!

the best part was that I parked illegally in all places and didnt get any tickets! whooo.
on the way home i realized i hadnt eaten all day and i was craving tacos. i almost drove to titos tacos but that was out of the way so i had my phone direct me to the closest place. it was a lil mexican joint where they didnt speak english but i got some tacos. nom nom.

then on the way back i stopped in ventura because torrid was having a 50% off clearance event. i ended up staying 45 minutes after they had closed to chat with the girls working there and trying stuff on and they hooked me up with a big discount and then as i was leaving they wanted to know where i stood on the legalization of pot. so weird.

and finally i went to target and got some stuff there including a new snow cone machine! woo hoo.

i spent today cleaning like crazy and reorganizing the apt. i almost got stuck in the linen closet but i got that all cleaned out and was able to put some of the living room stuff in there for storage and put up new art in the living room. to reward myself i got chinese food and then made a snow cone. it was fantastic! real shaved ice and the blue raspberry syrup i got is better than any slurpee ive ever had.

anyway ere are some pix of the cutes from yesterdays adventurings.
