longest weekend of my life...

So it was parent's weekend, and it was wonderful until Saturday night. My roommate's brother was in a terrible car accident. I was with her when she found out, and I put her in a cab. I called the rest of the roommates and we met her at the hospital. We sat there for several hours before going home because we had no information and Jessica was in the comfort of her family.
We went to parent's mass the next morning and while we were all gathering to talk at the end, my roomie called and told us that her brother was dying. We raced to the hospital with one of our priest friends and he performed last rights when we got there. We spent the rest of the day at the hospital and at 9 last night, he was pronounced medically dead. Another priest friend came to be with us at that point and he said mass with the family in the room. We went home after that, but the family is still at the hospital today because they are fighting whether or not to donate his organs.

It has been the most heart wrenching experience to see all of this going on tand to try and comfort my roommate as best I can when there are no answers to her questions of why? or how? or what is she suppossed to do? The sights and sounds of the last few days are going to be with me for a very long time, and its only going to continue this week.

I am so lucky and blessed thought that we go to a school that cares for us like family. In the last 3 days we have had 3 priests come and sit with us, another call our cells every 2 hours, 3 campus ministers come to see us, one cooking us dinner, 2 RDs bringing us breakfast and coordinating rides to the hospital and to the funeral services for us all as well. Our professors have stopped by and given us hugs and other things as well. We are a little overwhelmed with the support right now because we are so focused on our roomie and her family. We all feel so blessed, but we are screening our calls and door now because there are just too many people coming to offer their support. God bless them and I thank them, but we need some space right now.

We are all just trying to get a little work done because we know this week is going to be hectic. Please keep my roomie Jess, her brother Mark, and her family in your prayers.
