What a sunny, warm, fun day!!
Gathering at my Parent's house. ( I say parents because both of my parents are really gone.  My Mom is still with us in body, but the personality we knew is no longer there.) And maybe I should say family home.  My sister and her husband are really our hosts at these gatherings.
I wonder how it feels to be invaded by us siblings, like we own the place.  We all grew up there and still see it as part of us, but redbaydreamer  and volksmarchinguy live there every day.  It is their home.  I know sometimes in Red Bay I feel like a sibling presents an attitude of ownership when in reality we are all equal parts owner.
Anyway, I hope we did not barge in on anyone's feelings.  I thought it was loads of fun, especially the "man" work of changing the tire.  And the coffee cake was delicious.  I need that recipe.  I had in my mind a hot egg casserole so was a bit taken aback by the deviled eggs, but I thought the meal went together great with lots of female hands in the kitchen (plus Dunk) working together to get the meal on the table.
We met Val.  A one year old rescued springer who I thought was very well behaved.  Well, after poor redbaydreamer cleaned up the exploded coffee from the front stoop and the door.  Val surprised her by taking off out the front door on her lead while holding the door and a cup of coffee.  Reminded me of a summer day long ago when Kondor Von Able was tied by the front stoop on a rope.  From the dinner table I volunteered to bring him inside when he started barking.  He was so excited and kept circling me as I tried to undo the rope.  When I dropped my hands in frustration at not being able to loosen the knot, Kondor made for the door.  Unfortunately he had wound that rope around my ankles.  I carried the scars from that rope burn for a very long time.  Maybe they are hidden under wrinkles now.  I loved Kondor, but he was a handful as a family pet.  I think Val will work out much better.
