We spent the morning in the yard, cleaning up leaves & putting things away. I even enjoyed a few minutes picking up twigs for the fire. It reminded me of Girl Scout fires in the woods. Everything was still dry, as we waited for the snow/rain mix to arrive. We were done in time for the Ohio State -vs- Michigan game. It was an agonizing start, but ended up with a win.
Then I baked 2 pumpkin pies & made pumpkin scones to take to church tomorrow. An enjoyable day.
The birds were in and out of the feeder. We had as little as the nuthatch with the rusty belly and as big as a medium size hawk that came in to try his luck for lunch. Luckily we didn't witness anything gory or sad. The Red Bellied Woodpecker enjoyed the suet, too.
Every night we need to take the bird food in so that the raccoon has no reason to steal our feeders. This has been going on since this summer with our hummingbird feeders. The raccoon would hang in the tree and swing the feeders until they hit the ground. There were many broken parts to my pretty glass feeders. Those little raccoon faces are so cute, but they can do damage.
Dunky is cooking soup with leeks & artichokes & mushrooms, so I had better head out to the kitchen to keep him company.
