The store has been keeping us more than busy for the past couple months. A comic shop a few blocks up the street closed in early August so we got a lot of new customers from them, and then what DC did with relaunching ALL their books at #1....we had NO idea what to expect! We got a lot of new customers coming in to buy comics from us because their comic shop had sold out of everything. It's a double-edged sword, it's great to have new customers, but it sucks when we run out of things before our regulars could have a chance to get things. And those new people are comic-savers at other stores, and we would ask why don't they switch to our store, because we know how to take care of our regulars. For the most part, people were just like, ummm, because that's where I shop (yeah, that's where you shop, but they don't have any of the books you are looking for!). Whatever... (should be where they shop!)
This was the first time in the 837 years that Rich & I have been together that we didn't make it to the Folsom Street Fair. (actually the first time in 10 years). We got up on Sunday morning and Rich took the girls out for walkies. It was raining, so when he got home with them, we dried them off and decided not to go to the street fair. We crawled back into bed and caught up on some well deserved sleep. We've been pushing ourselves so hard the past 2 months that we are just in auto-pilot mode. And we thought about it tonight, that it's a hop to Halloween, a skip to Turkey-Day, and a jump to X-Mas. Like they say, no rest for the wicked. (We really aren't wicked, we're just portrayed that way.)
Here's some pictures of the girls.
Ruby on Pride! Ruby asleep in daddy's arms :)
Ruby smiling (she was really asleep & snoring) Ruby found her tail! (it had been missing)
Miss Olive playing hide & seek The bad girls club, they had just been caught misbehaving

And last but not least, my wonderful hubby at the Giants game on LGBT night in August. We had a blast, but sitting up in the nosebleed seats was kind of scary. Having retinopathy in 1 eye, I'm already lacking any depth perception and then to be up so high!!! I was suffering from a vertigoish feeling the entire time. We went with our friends Lisa (and her wife whose name escapes me right now) and with Big Gay Brian and his boyfriend (even though they've been together longer than us) Auntie Preston. It was a night of beer, hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn and laughing. A much needed night out.
I've been avoiding anything political lately, I just really feel that this country is on the course to implode. The rhetoric from the right versus the wimpiness from the left. It seems like NOBODY in congress or the executive branch, or running for the executive branch, has our nation's interest at heart. It's all about partylines and for the right, it is just a plain old "Anybody But Obama" mentality. Let's burn this country down to the ground with gridlock for 4 years so we can get rid of the black man in the whitehouse. Citizens be damned! OK, that was my rant for the time being.
