Life In The Crapstand

Ruby has been with us for only 4 days now, but we know she belongs here. First off, she still has her back dew claws. The vet said to me on her first visit that we could have them removed while she is under sedation for being spayed. Ummm.........NO! Miss Olive still has hers and that was a reason we liked Ruby. Olive has this thing about her tongue always being out, no, I'm not talking about panting, she just always has her tongue stuck out just a smidge (it's so frickin' cute!). Well guess who else is doing it, she might grow our of it but I hope note. The last reason why we know she belongs here, is that last night we were sittin and watchin TV, she was curled up asleep in my lap and she kept farting. Our house is a fartfest anyhow between Rich & I and Miss Olive, and now I guess Ruby. Olive will just sit down in front of one of us and look up at us with her sad brown eyes, and then just let one rip (and I swear I can see a twinkle in her eye for being so proud of herself).

The first couple days both Rich & I were worried that Olive was going to hurt her sister. She was doing a lot of barking and growling at the puppy. The vet told me to make sure that their interactions at the start always be supervised, so that's what I've been doing. Rich has worked the past several days to let me stay at home and bond with my little girl, so I've been sitting in the middle of the floor a lot and crawling around on all fours and trying to make sure the 2 girls are civil to each other. Olive initially would walk over to Ruby and sniff her and everything dogs do, but when Ruby would return the favor she got growled at. Well now Olive shares her toys and actually provokes her sister to follow or chase her around. They even drink out of the water bowl together (at the same time). So I thought things were going pretty well. Until this afternoon. I got out my newspaper and the Reader's Digest (my mother gift subscripted to me) and took Ruby into the living room to sleep in my lap while I read. I kicked back the recliner and was just getting comfy when this happened!!!!!!!!

Miss Olive ran in from the kitchen and vaulted up onto the recliner with me and her sister, and then curled up and went to sleep. I think Olive already loves her sister and is gonna take good care of her :)
