My last post on sarcasm was a 'now for something completely different' blog post to get my mind off the issues at home. I write about what's on my mind, good or bad, with little regard to how it might make me appear. It's the naked truth. I write as if no one reads it, like a leather bound journal tucked under my pillow. It's obvious from recent postings that my mind weighs heavily on my son's condition and how it affects life at home. I've had some days in-the-dumps. I had to get away.
I wrote that post Friday morning but internet problems prevented me from cutting & pasting the work to LJ. This morning I learned it was cutting & pasting that caused the roadblock, not my internet. I inserted the Dictionary.com definition for sarcasm. That C&P apparently took up too much memory causing LJ to reject my post. I learned something, only after cussing Cox Cable internet, Microsoft Hotmail, Gateway computers, Live Journal, and my NetGear wireless hub.
My apologies to those parties. It was not your fault.....but "Fuck you Dictionary.com." (spoken like Louis Black delivered the 'fuck you' with his crooked finger.)
A friend told me in email last week that I need 'outlets' to escape the reality at home. She reads my blog and noted Primatology as one of those outlets. This is an escape, but not if the only subject I'm writing about is my crazy kid and how he affects life at home. I will continue to write about James, but also try to use this blog as an escape hatch from the unfortunate Crazy Train life at home has become. I'll continue to do the best I can for my son and the best I can for myself, and Cheryl, by not making it worse than it is.
The second half of the weekend was spent cooling down. Cheryl and I went to the Arizona Diamondbacks game, they lost, and then to the Rhythm Room to see a blues band from Tucson, Bad News Blues. We only stayed for one set and got home before midnight.
On the way home we stopped at Filiberto's for some late night greasy Mexican food. If there's one thing I've come to appreciate since moving to AZ, it's Mexican cuisine. It starts with the staple, re-fried beans & rice. They've become a comfort food for me. I love mixing my frijoles & beans. Filiberto's is not fancy, it's down and dirty, the kind of food you eat after a night-on-the-town. Good stuff. Just don't tell your cardiologist you eat there.
Speaking of Louis Black......he's a perfect example of a stand-up comedian that uses sarcasm and satire has his primary weapons as he rails against society, government, corporations and humanity. The man is funny, but he's also negative. There are times when negativity can be hilarious if delivered properly. Louis Black has that delivery, but I think he's a one-trick-pony. I like his trick, he makes me laugh.
I like his reason for not trusting the government. "These are the fuckers that told me to hide under my wooden desk in grade school in the event of a nuclear 'fuck' holocaust." (wagging his boney finger when he says 'fuck') That is the logic of a stand up comedian. It's cynical and 100% correct. What we're people thinking back in then?
It appears the metallurgy issues that resulted in our slowdown at Monkey-tech have been resolved. The floodgates will soon open. Overtime will return. That's good news because last week's paycheck was depressing. The paperboy could have cashed my check.
