Tonite was the night that I had waited 2 weeks in anticipation for. So when I got of work at 5 and looked at the grayish/black looking clouds, I got worried. Worried that what I had waited to get back into would be rained out on its opening night. So I went home and immediately watched the weather channel, which did not bring me an optimistic outlook. This led me to insult the weather people and call them a bunch of misleading, joy leeching, fools. But then I look at a map and saw that the rain that was predicted was starting to break up. So I sat and waited and I watched and listen to the rain come and then go and then 20 minutes later start up again and then disappear back into the clouds. I didn't get the call not to go, so I packed up and left at 10 of 8 and headed to Union for what I had been waiting for. After 25 minutes traveling on the road while listening to jazz music(really chills me out and helps me focus), and talking with my pops we arrived in the parking lot under the light with no rain in sight. So I started to stretch and warm up while watching the other game, waiting to play. I still had the same nerves that I used to get before an event like this waiting for that moment for me to get involved and for it all to go away and to get into my groove. Then the other game ended and the players cleared off the field. We were given our position and place in the line-up and then trotted out onto the field. Thus started the 2005 Union Township Softball Season, with me rejuvenating my baseball/softball playing days of the past. Everyone says that the first game back is tough, and I still do have right shoulder(throwing) problems, and I am a little out of shape, and I hadn't played organized softball in three years and true organized baseball in almost 8. Everything pointed to a rusty start, but for some reason I felt that I was right where I should be and that everything was going to be like it should and used to when I played this game so long ago. And after catching my first fly ball in centerfield, in the 1st inning, I settled in and was ready to go. The night turned out with our team(Crossroads Christian Fellowship) winning 9-8, and with me going 2-3 with 2 singles and 3 RBI's and scoring the winning run, leaving pumped up and really into the game. In fact I was so excited to play that on my final at bat when I singled up the middle and drove in two runs, I clapped my hands 3 times before reaching first base while running at full speed. So to say it felt good playing a sport that I really like to play would have been an understatement, I felt fantastic!!!! It is good to back in the swing of things and it is also great to know that I play on a team that has all Christians who play in a non-christian league. It is a great way to share the gospel and display your testimony. So that is something to pray about and keep in mind while playing. It is so good to be back. Can't wait for game two which is on Wednesday night.
