i'm in a crummy mood today (as of yesterday afternoon, actually) - lots of little things that could be a lot worse, but i'm just feeling very blah about them. but i won't bore you with the stupid minutia; instead, i will report about the excellent weekend in pennsylvania visiting shira on the farm.
shira organized a hula-hoop making workshop, and aviva, zohar, scott, dan and i crammed ourselves and lots of irrigation tubing into my subaru.
i actually took very few pictures, so these are mostly by dan.
what's a farm without cats?
we actually had lots of great cat interaction over the weekend, as one of the barn cats had her kittens our last night there, so we got to see the tiny, brand new kittens sunday morning before we headed home. see the link with scott's photos for the baby kitten shots.
aviva & garlic:
lilliputia and the shabbat candles. lilliputia is a puppet i found at an estate sale recently, and she was very helpful on the trip! she paid all the tolls between long island and pennsylvania. she also helped light the shabbat candles.her full name is lilliputia verazanno.
this is a shot scott captured during the hula workshop
see the
whole farm set of pictures on flickr.
also, some movies taken on my camera
can be found here on photobucket. check out the little flute zohar made out of irrigation tubing scrap in action!
and, last but certainly not least,
here's a link to all of scott's photos. he got some really stellar shots and did a much more thorough job of documenting the weekend, so i recommend looking at these.
things that were present in the weekend but not captured in photos:
* we had roadkill venison. possibly my first time eating both roadkill and deer. it was put in a stew and actually quite good.
* fried green tomatoes! i think this is the first time i ever ate these, too, and they were delicious.
* scott did take a picture of movie night when it was still light out, but the picture doesn't quite capture how cool it was to see a movie projected on the side of a barn. we saw "Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit", and it was quite an appropriate film to show on the farm.
* mmmmmmm, the farmy smell. hard to capture in pictures.
* i led a mini duct tape wallet workshop for scott & zohar and, later, aviva.
* some neighboring farmers came by to visit and one sang a song and played guitar, and it was great.
viva the farming revolution!
