eye pillows and finished bunny

Apr 04, 2006 22:49

i've been making these aromatherapy eye pillows for gifts ever since december/the holidays, but i finally got around to taking some photos of a recent batch. plus, they're for non-LJ-reading friends, so i can post them without ruiining the surprise, as they will be going out in the mail shortly.

they're filled with flax seeds and lavendar, though sometimes i use peppermint (supposed to be invigorating/relieve headaches & sinuses) instead of lavendar (relaxing, calming). it's one of the things i've been breaking my sewing teeth on, since they're just rectangles after all. there's something quite pleasing about working with fabrics ... it already has a personality, different than the personality yarn has before transitioning to being knit up. the matching cards are easy but a nice touch, i think. i use the awesome pinking shears (made in germany) i got at a yard sale, and rubber cement it to cut up/re-used office folders.

and, i finished the bunny.
pattern: jess hutch's bunny
yarn: knitpick's shine sport in cherry
needles: #4 wood dpns.

notes:using a smaller gauge yarn and smaller needles made this a smaller bunny. he's cute, but i thought he was cuter when he was just a stumpy peanut (see previous post). perhaps my finishing skills need polishing. also, i'd love to find a way to knit the head and body and limbs continuously, thereby eliminating some seaming. i'm working on a sort of adaptation, actually.

oh yeah, i just started a flickr photo account. let me know if you have an account i should friend.
