recent knitting

i've been meaning to post photos of some of my latest projects, and i finally sat my arse down long enough to get all the photos together on the computer.

pouch i made for my mom. loosely based on this PDF pattern.

pink skinny scarf for my sister. it doesn't look that long the way i have it folded (it actually looks a lot like a breast cancer awareness ribbon, the way it's folded), but it pretty much fit my sister's request for a long skinny pink scarf. first time knitting with a ribbon yarn. i didn't much care for it, the way the needles poke through the damn yarn.

preemie hat for charity. this wasn't quite finished when i took the photo, but you get the idea.  i learned how to do i-cord and make increases with this project. i like to acquire a new skill or 2 with each project. first time on size 2 DPNs as well. ouch! (i use the tips of my fingers to push the needles. small needles are pointy.)

first time dyeing with koolaid. worked pretty well, and what fun! here is some yarn hanging to dry on the mantle, near the fireplace.  the yarn's original color was the light blue you see peeking through in some of the blue-green yarn, which i kinda intentionally made mottled/variegated.

cable hat for dan's friend chris. i put this pattern together myself. 'twas slightly torturous to undo it 2 or 3 times once i realized how tight it got with the cables and the ribbing pulling it tighter. chris has a rather large head, so i knew it would be bad if it was tight on me. granted, i haven't blocked it yet, and it's 100% wool (mmmm, irish wool. chris will like it, since he's irish).

dan modeling the hat

me modeling the hat. it's a little big on me, but that's good. nevermind my bedhead/messy hair.

i saved the cutest for last. i've been obsessed with this bunny. pattern here. i made it with "nylgorina" my sister gave me but there was very little yardage on the skein. it's a nylon fake-angora. stuffed with pieces of pantyhose i got from the rag pile in the basement, becuase it was squishy enough.
