You know how nothing happens for ages and then suddenly fandom pounces?
Anyway, I'm sure I've had the Boston Legal conversation with more than one person, but I can't remember exactly who besides
housepiglet.
captain_tulip, I think. Anyway, I've finally gotten around to watching an episode (the first episode of Season 2, randomly), and it's not bad at all, although I

Denny is a founding partner of Crane, Poole and Schmidt(I absolutely love Shirley) and Alan is a lawyer at the firm, I've never seen him express any desire to make partner. I don't know if you made it past the sucky seasons of the Practice to the final season but how Alan ended up at C,P and S is shown in the last season. I have heard from both my husband and a fellow Boston Legal lover at work that they both started out hating Alan, and started loving him in no time on the Practice and both followed him onto Boston Legal.
In my opinion the show doesn't really hit it's stride until the second season. The first season ends rather oddly, because ABC hates the show and gave it's Sunday time slot to Grey's mid-season and send BL on hiatus for the rest of the season, which also reflects on the beginning of the second season because those are the leftover episodes of the first season. Don't get me started on ABC's treatment of the show.
The Golden Girl will be around more often, there will be more fun recurring characters/temporary characters like Michael J. Fox' guest spot.
Oh and I flove Jerry. Christian Clemenson is a fantastic actor.
That turned out a lot longer than I expected. I love this show so much and I love to talk about it lol.

I did watch The Practice, but yeah, it was only on and off, and I gave up after a few seasons - can't remember how many, but probably three or so, so I didn't realise there was any connection between Shore and The Practice! But I can see that's a good way to launch a character :)

I'm not even sure if it was Kelley's intention to spin Alan and co off to Boston Legal from the get go. It might have been the overwhelmingly positive audience response on the character that made that decision for him, resulting in those last few episodes of The Practice when the focus is being shared by the old firm from that show and Crane, Poole and Schmidt, easing it into the spin-off. After all, both Spader and Shatner won Emmy's for that final season of the Practice.
