Post Journey’s End, we saw a lot of stuff that reminded us of the bad bits - Ten being self-pitying, self-destructive and emo to a point where even those of us who loved him were ready for a change by the time we got to his regeneration. Every time we want to celebrate Doctor/Rose love and cuteness(we do it almost every weekend), we usually livestream Fear Her, Tooth and Claw and The Idiot's Lantern. The part of fandom I've contact with really appreciates this episode, so it's sort of a surprise when I hear people didn't like Fear Her. Me and my friends (and a lot of people I know) on Tumblr live a Fear Her appreciation life ahahahahaha
Anyway... I agree about missing the show like it used to be, but I won't write about it XD I talked too much about it already,so... LOL Let's not got here.

Fear Her could have been every bit as bad if it hadn’t been for Rose’s ability to read the Doctor and rescue him, not just with a pickaxe and a plan but also with a quiet word about keeping your fingers out of the jam.
You are so right about this!
that quiet emotional commitment, the building up of character and background that brought those people to life for us, so much so that when Rose obediently spits gum into the Doctor’s hand we see an entire relationship.
I completely agree - the shows come to life as stories to me because of these nuanced character investments you mentioned. Right now however, to me at least, it really feels like Character A does Action B because the script calls for it, not for any more organic reason. That makes it very hard for me to invest in the characters, because I don't feel like I know them, let alone really "care about" them.
