So how do you feel about names in the altverse? Can you see Rose ever being Rose Smith? How about Doctor Tyler? Or would it be John Tyler? Steve Tyler? Quigley Tyler?

Doctor Albus Severus J. K. Shakespeare Albert Oolon Isaac Eliot Feynman Tyler OR NOTHING.

He got into the Guiness Book of Records for most ridiculous looking driver's license.

But yeah, nothing makes me run away faster than Cloen not being 'the Doctor' to everyone who knows him. He can put what he wants in his passport but he's the Doctor and he says so in JE.

Rose changing her name basically makes me so butthurt I don't even have room in an LJ comment. If anyone's changing their name, it's him: Tyler is actually somewhat meaningful. Whatever name he came up with is just for legal purposes anywhere.

FEELINGS: I HAS THEM.

Basically this. I've backbuttoned fic that gave the half-human Doctor a random human name. He was pretty clear about his, "I'm him. I'm literally him," to just decide he's no longer "The Doctor."

He chose his name, after all, so it's pretty important to him. It's a part of who he is. Changing it is basically a big red flag of I AM NOT THE DOCTOR, and I ship Rose/Doctor, not Rose/John Smith. Like, even if he does have a bit of an identity crisis at some point (probably inevitable), I can't ever see him changing his name.

UM, YOU FORGOT "ALONSO" IN THERE, HDU!!11

And ugh, Rose does NOT need to change her name indeed, he's the one joining HER family anyway! *rolleyes*

I think that Ten2 would always go by "Doctor" unless he does not know who he is (aka chameleon arched Doctor) or he is under cover. John Smith is on official paperwork or possibly John Noble if he is honoring Donna (yes, I know Noble makes some people cringe, but I think it is possible he would do that out of respect for Donna who was very important to him). I doubt Rose would take Smith as a last name if they were to marry, but I think he might take Tyler if they did if she wanted him to. It is conceivable that he would go through a phase of wanting to be called Alonzo, but it would be short-lived because Rose would make fun of him for it or he might take it as his middle name.

The Doctor wants to be called the Doctor and Cloen is the Doctor. BOOM.

And why would Rose take a fake meaningless name? Maybe if they both thought of a cool name and decided to take that, like Rose and Doctor Solo.

Doctor Solo! I love that! Now that would be an interesting conversation!

they are much too cool to be skywalkers.

I can just hear that conversation. Han Solo or Luke Skywalker. He would then have to list the positives and negatives of each one. Luke Skywalker has a light saber but then Han Solo has the Millenium Falcoln. Rose would have to remind him that Han Solo has Princess Leia and that trumps a light sabre.

Maybe that's when they become the Solos: when the Doctor is fed up of having the same name as his in-laws. XD

Eh, "Rose Noble" sounds especially weird to me, tbh, when that's the last name of another of his companions....O_o

Yeah it's like her taking the name of another woman ... Donna is cool and all, but still, that's the name of another woman in her man's life ... so yeahhhh I agree with you lol.
