So how do you feel about names in the altverse? Can you see Rose ever being Rose Smith? How about Doctor Tyler? Or would it be John Tyler? Steve Tyler? Quigley Tyler?

Doctor Albus Severus J. K. Shakespeare Albert Oolon Isaac Eliot Feynman Tyler OR NOTHING.

He got into the Guiness Book of Records for most ridiculous looking driver's license.

But yeah, nothing makes me run away faster than Cloen not being 'the Doctor' to everyone who knows him. He can put what he wants in his passport but he's the Doctor and he says so in JE.

Rose changing her name basically makes me so butthurt I don't even have room in an LJ comment. If anyone's changing their name, it's him: Tyler is actually somewhat meaningful. Whatever name he came up with is just for legal purposes anywhere.

FEELINGS: I HAS THEM.

Basically this. I've backbuttoned fic that gave the half-human Doctor a random human name. He was pretty clear about his, "I'm him. I'm literally him," to just decide he's no longer "The Doctor."

He chose his name, after all, so it's pretty important to him. It's a part of who he is. Changing it is basically a big red flag of I AM NOT THE DOCTOR, and I ship Rose/Doctor, not Rose/John Smith. Like, even if he does have a bit of an identity crisis at some point (probably inevitable), I can't ever see him changing his name.

UM, YOU FORGOT "ALONSO" IN THERE, HDU!!11

And ugh, Rose does NOT need to change her name indeed, he's the one joining HER family anyway! *rolleyes*

BUT IF HE'S CALLED ALONZO, WHO DOES HE SAY "ALLONS-Y ALONZO" TOO? I BET HE'D ACTUALLY TRY TO GET ROSE TO CHANGE HER MIDDLE NAME TO ALONZO.

Right? And tbh I think he'd get a kick out of being a Tyler.

HE COULD SAY IT TO HIMSELF IN THE MIRROR EVERY MORNING, WHILE GETTING READY! OR WHEN GIVING HIMSELF A PEP TALK...HE'D NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FINDING A SUBJECT NAMED ALONSO TO DIRECT THAT COMMENT TO AGAIN! ;)

Or maybe he'd try to get the Tylers to give Tony "Alonso" as a middle name, lol....and then he'd call Tony "Alonso" all the time and terribly confuse the poor kid.

And indeed, he's grown so fond of them, they are the closest he's had to a human family, and it might weird out Jackie...:p

You just know that if he and Rose ever did have kids, he'd spend the entire nine months trying to convince her to name the baby Alonzo.

BUT IT'S A GIRL, DOCTOR!

BUT ROOOOSE! I COULD SAY ALLONS-Y, ALONZO ALL THE TIME! DOESN'T IT JUST ROLL OFF YOUR TONGUE?

Hehehe, oh yeah. And if it was a girl he might eventually give in. But if it was a boy, he'd probably nickname it Alonzo if Rose refused to name him that.

I disapprove of anything that would mean the Doctor no longer gets to say ROSE TYLER in that way of his.

Completely agree! Rose can't change her name. It's as bad as him changing his name.

This is a very good point! The way it rolls off DT's tongue is very important! ;)
