Our community had it's annual end-of-summer Arts Fest earlier this month.
As usual, it featured dozens of area photographers, painters, jewelers, woodworkers, and sculptors. There was even metalwork being created by a blacksmith.
Several local musical groups performed, including a group of local college profs performing "experimental" music, folk musicians, and a jazz quartet.
Our own local college's music students set up a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo for kids to try out violins, cellos, trumpets and tubas for the first time.
There was also a performance artist called Joy Unspeakable wandering the site. Just like a real sculpture, he was marble gray...from the tip of his toes to his straw hat, and all the clothing and skin in between.
He was, of course, absolutely silent. He moved around the grounds very slowly, at times just stopping in a pose. Then he'd suddenly move, and all the kids would scream with delight.
The best part of his performance, though, was when he saw one of our police officers standing under a tree. He snuck up next to the cop, and started mimicing him. The cop tried to ignore him, and tried not to laugh, but eventually they had quite a bit of fun mimicing each other's moves.

Berea Arts Fest Joy Unspeakable performs all over the eastern US.
He's appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and at The White House.
He's also occasionally known as Mark Abbati of Columbus Ohio.
