Late night ramble

Jun 27, 2005 23:30

I *really* should be in bed now, but I'm keyed up. Thus, this post may be a bit... incoherent.

Seeing little sister Marie and her friend Harris on Friday - hopefully. They shall be passing by that evening on their way down to North Carolina. Will be good to see them.

Need to clean apartment. Place is not horrid - mostly paper buildup from games and junk mail - but still needs doing. Some putting stuff back where it belongs is in order too.

Looks like seeing the Marylanders this week isn't gonna happen. Kind of a stellar alignment thing - everybody is busy a different night of the week, and we hate leaving anybody out of our weekly game. More fools we - some game better than no game. Even if I am the one left out.

Going to G'BNurg next week for reenactment. No, I'm not going to 'play' - I am using it as an excuse to see the 'Burg and try taking some video of the event.

And to see the 'Burg, of course. ;-)

Mmm. Cookie. (What? there's a bag of chocolate chip cookies here next to me...)

Experienced a stellar example of asking a question but not listening to the answer:

Talking about the Deep Impact mission:
Visitor: "So when was this probe launched? Last month?"
Me: "No, last January." [continues with synopsis of mission]
V: (interrupting after 20 seconds) "So it was launched yesterday?"
M: "No, it was launched last January." [proceeds to finish synopsis]
V: "So it was launched last week?"
M: (after brief moment with vision of striking visitor with a mallet to try and get *something* into his skull) "No, the mission was launched last January."

There are times when my chosen lot in life looks like a really long uphill battle.

Thinking of uphill: Mt. Everest is getting taller. It was recently re-measured and found to have grown upward by six feet. Offically still 29,029 feet tall (8,848 meters), it is now awaiting Nepal's recognition that it is actually 29,035 feet high (8,850 meters). Weirdly neat fact of the night.

Thinking of slightly altering the color scheme and layout of my LJ. Don't know when I'll have the time. Thinking dark green, brown & black....

First day with NPS tomorrow. Which is why I'm wired.

Nearly out of time allotted to this journal entry. Starting to feel tired, at last.

Brain just stopped spitting up any coherent words that could form sentances. Required me two minutes to write last sentance. Brain shutting down... so going to bed now. Type another time.

I almost signed this.
