dance, dance, dance Huzzah!

The week so far has been absolutely kicking.

The Summer Solstice Gala at the MSC was a lot of fun - I got paid extra to do my normal job and then party down (well, talk with old friends). Did have a nervous moment when I was shooing folk out of the exhibit, as instructed by Da Boss, when The President of the Science Center came over and countermanded them. Now, where it nearly anyone else, I would have explained that my supervisor had told me to keep food & drink out of Terralink. But this is Da Boss of Da Boss of Da Boss. So thus was I relieved of the really really annoying duty of chasing out the social elite of Baltimore from my exhibit. Thank You Again, Mr. President! :-)

After the dinner was over, the said elite ignored the exhibits in favor of the lobby dance floor. Just as I was beginning to debate if it was safe to go get into my suit, I spotted this really crazy hairdo moving toward my exhibit (it was at my eye level, so thus it was the first thing I noticed). My next thought went something like this: "That's a crazy hairdo... wonder who's under it - oh gosh, it's Rachel!" She and Rob are old friends from G'Burg, and that decided what i was going to do - after talking with them briefly, I scooted off to get my suit while they investigated the Titanic Exhibit. We met up again there, and toured the exhibit. Once agin, I felt it was good *except* the three displays that annoyed me last time. From there, we headed up to the third floor 'lounge' and spent a good hour chatting & catching up. 'Twas good to see them again - particularly Rachel, who I sometimes worried about (She was in a nasty emotional tailspin through most of college. She seems to be mostly clear of it now, though - good news).

All in all, time well spent - particularly at nearly double my normal pay.

Monday was Game Night, and we finished the current Faerun plot arc, and (for once) some of the bad guys escaped the Badgers - though one who I thought would escape didn't (they slew an Ancient Blue Dragon! Ack!) and one who I though would not did (a magic-user in a cloak). Yes, that last bit is deliberately vague - they may have found my LJ, and I don't want them to know if a certain villain survived.

Next week we go back to Deadlands, so I can plan the next part of the Faerun game.

But Wednesday was the true high - I *finally* got a second job, and one that I think will rock: Baltimore Heritage Trail Guide. I'm joining the NPS (temporarily)!

This is more income for me, and will greatly benefit me. Now, if only I can find a full-time salaried job... even for $20k... but this is a good start. A very good start.

*happiness & glee*
