Dear American TV Networks, Media Producers, and Media Distributors (I'm looking at you Apple!)

How about not restricting your media to users who reside in America? Americans who are residing overseas would still like to get our regular TV fix for the shows we enjoy, but are left with no legal means of doing so as you restrict subscription-based downloads to those residing in America only. I would happily pay to get my Supernatural fix via Podcast if the stupid iTunes store would let me, but it will not, so my only available options are to wait until 2 years after it airs to get it in Japan at 4 times the cost, import it sight unseen on DVD and pay at least double the cost, or illegally download it so I can see it before I front cash.

You are putting Americans living abroad into a position where we have to bend or break the law to watch your shows, and for what reason? So you can sell ridiculously overpriced versions in foreign markets? Don't worry, there will be plenty of people waiting to buy Prison Break for $300 a season in Japan even if people who don't need the subtitles get it for $40 a season via the iTunes store.

Corporations bitch incessantly about P2P distribution, then make it the only option available for some of us. You're shooting yourselves in the foot here. Get your shit together. I WANT to give you my money. Get your head out of your ass and let's do this the right way, okay?

The WWE can get it right, why can't NBC?

media, stupidity
