So we made it through 3 days of Spanish at the Simon Bolivar school, but we decided an hour or two ago to call it quits. We technically two more days, since we signed up for a week, but we're not going to go.
Today we actually started learning some more important stuff, like conjugating regular verbs in present tense, but this is pretty much the first thing that we've learned that is actually worthwhile. In three days of lessons (12 hours), we've learned close to 500 words along with conjugations and a few other pointless things.
We decided to stop going since we aren't actually retaining much of anything we've learned; we don't like our teacher or his teaching skills; we were looking for more of a survival Spanish course which is not what this is; the pace is way too fast; waking up early in the morning and taking naps in the afternoon does not work well for me; my dad is getting stressed out about having homework when he has lessons to work on for his online class; and we both feel like it's a waste of time for how much we're actually learning and remembering. Our teacher hasn't been correcting our grammar or pronunciation when we read or write sentences either.
So we decided not to continue and now I get to sleep in tomorrow! My dad will be doing some research into different places that are more focused on teaching you things you're going to need to know to survive here and also into some online options.
