La Opinion

Jun 25, 2007 20:16

I love being home with my family, even if I am in bed ten hours and then on the couch most of the remaining twelve (when not visiting the loo). So I have to remember that there are certain things I do or say sometimes that get under certain kinsmen's skin.
.
Lauren and Kendall are big old sports fans, and Kendall and I have a standing date to watch every Dodger game. Kendall is somewhat of a pessimist at times, pointing out all the things his team does poorly. This gets a bit annoying sometimes when the game is tied and the other team is doing no better (although it is totally acceptable when the Dodgers are sucking it up and losing by double digits), and I pointed this out, trying to make a legitimate argument about hit counts, stats and all that. My reasoning was solid, but my tone was, as it often is, a bit condescending. After Kendall said I have an opinion about everything (which I do, as Mom agrees), I made a pouty little statement like "oh wait, I have no opinion on this subject. No opinion at all."
.
That was in the third inning. It's now the top of the sixth and Kendall still hasn't returned from his room.
.
I reserve the right to have, and even to voice an opinion about everything and anything I want. I just should try and watch my tone from now on. Because unlike other places I've lived, the people in this house are intelligent enough to recognize condescension when they hear it.

Medical Addendum: Dr. Cone called with a diagnosis and prescription news. Unfortunately the medication for the infection that's actually supposedly causing the main problem will not coexist peacefully with the penicillin regimen I'm on for another eight days (one more mega-butt-shot on Wednesday) so I have to wait that long to start medicating the big problem. Augh! But at least I have some answers.
.
Talked to Erin Toole today and gave her the whole medical scoop. She is going to be a doctor, after all. It was wonderful to catch up.
