Well, it's been a weekend. Yesterday we opened Boo Manor to friends without power, and several came over. We had steaks, corn, burgers, sausages, and got to watch Men in Black on the new (well, to me new) Laserdisc player

Well, we have power back, it is good to be on a main feeder line. However I know a lot of people don't so if you ain't got power please come over to Boo Manor in Relay MD. Leave a comment and I'll give directions.

Wow, both the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post have almost no comments on their weather articles. Normally there would be hundreds. I guess everyone is currently looting Home Depot for generators and such.
We however have power, and are thus KINGS! RULERS of the world, we can speak and we can make COFFEE! :-)
So with the power in town out, the priority was to make some coffee. Since the shed main inverter is running the fridge, I did this by hooking up the Cobra 1500 watt inverter to a deep cycle battery and plugging in the coffee machine. Note that it takes 50 amps at 12 volts to power a 600 watt coffee maker. And that it takes 50 watt hours to make a

Man, this is going to be a good one. Power is still out, Baltimore is pretty much dark, and I think it will be a while before we get power back. Apparently Columbia is in even worse shape, don't know much at all

Power's out, things are running on batteries at the moment. Massive amounts of wind out there, it's been one hell of a weird storm. Trees are bending at 45 degree angles.
Bend, don't break. They'll have the power back on soon. Otherwise we'll just be warm tomorrow.
