So here I am on Iron Mountain. 3 feet of snow, no deer to be seen other than does (not going to shoot a doe and her family, thanks), however I am *very* warm with the thermal underwear and boots.
Sat this morning outside and watched the sun come up. As I joked last night I was watching the "fireplace" channel. When jeff came out I told him I had switch to the "sunrise" channel.
Both are good.
Dad is here, he made it up and I really appreciate this fact more than anyone can know. I'm seeing him in a slightly different light, he's old but really interesting. I'm glad we threatened him with doom to get his ass out here.
The trip up was long, flew up to Chi friday night, then drove to Iron mountain on Saturday, then went to camp. Tough time getting in, but we made it. The bulldozer was dead due to a jammed starter, I un-jammed it but the motor is stuck. If we can't get out tomorrow I'll pull the spark plugs, get the engine turning, and fire it up. I'm good at that.
We have fire, we have a stove, we have a heater downstairs, and we have cooking things. We're living well actually, this is a really nice cabin. Temps in the low 5's in the night, high teens during the day. Once again with proper clothing this is not a problem.
I enjoy the cold. Doesn't bother me much.
Tomorrow we will break camp and I'll go back to Appleton with Andy. Then fly out on Tuesday, leaving at noon, arriving home in BWI at 6pm. Then I will take Wednesday off to recoup and clean up, and go back to work on Thursday.
Busy, but fun!
