A female character that needs more screen time
Astrid Farnsworth from Fringe
There were a few good contenders here (I considered Ginny Weasley for a good while) but I had to go with Astrid here. The fact that Astrid has been on the Fringe team since the first episode and it took till last week, about two thirds into season 4, to give her an episode featuring a storyline (not even the main storyline of the episode) about her. That ridiculous right. It's really a testament to Jasika Nicole's acting that so many fans care about Astrid and force them to give her anything at all to work with. It seems to me her character was conceived soley to give Walter someone to interact when Peter and Olivia are romancing. Yes, they give her cute jokes and they given her small moments to shine, but she is so often forgotten it's pretty ridiculous. I mean, okay, we learned in the "Astrid episode" that her mother died when she was younger and she has a distant relationship with her father. But why has she never bonded with Peter and Olivia over those things? I mean they both have similar issues. In the new timeline at least the moments where Olivia and Astrid talk about boys it feels more genuine since she had no other friends for years, but really, they seem to only bring her in for that because they think that's all Olivia and her could talk about. Why does she never go out drinking, or watching movies or eating at late diners with Peter, Olivia or even Lincoln? I don't get it.
