Its chilly this morning! Quite a drastic change in weather especially in November. But what a beautiful day despite the brisk north wind. Josh and I have date night tonight and he asked me what I wanted to do. Silly I know, date night on a weekend but we are both so busy working and he is out of town so much that we make weekends date nights! I love fireplaces and cuddling watching a movie when it is cold outside. Josh called early this morning and said "listen". I could hear the chop, chop of wood and I started to giggle. I told him I wanted to have a winter picnic in front of the fireplace tonight (at his house his fireplace is bigger). I'm providing the food and he is providing the atmosphere. I really can't wait until tonight I'm so excited. He is so inventive with his portion of date nights and doing the atmosphere arrangement.
As for my picnic food, I'm making pork stuffed crossaints. I use the same receipe for egg rolls. Butternut squash soup. Very creamy, very yummy. A fruit and nut salad with a raspberry vingerette. I use assorted lettuce and add nut trail mix that has raisins in it. What a better way to start off the beginning of the holidays with my man than his favorite, gingerbread cookies. I kept all of the spiced apple cider drink mix from my MRE's and oh are they delicious with hot water, honey and a splash of lemon juice. Perhaps a light white wine for later. Sounds good?
Have a good weekend and enjoy the fall weather!
