Where I watch Revolutionary Girl Utena, Episode 6

That was rather odd, the way the episode started all dark and ominous, and then turned comedic, and then just plain absolutely cracky. I mean, you start with Nanami being pursued by a mysterious shadowy figure during the night, and you finish with Touga punching a boxing Kangaroo's lights out! The horse, the chickens, the bull, and again, the boxing Kangaroo, where did they all come from?? Well, wherever they came from, I'm glad they did, because they were fucking hilarious! Nanami is of course a drama queen as per usual, and her using that Mitsuru Tsuwabuki kid like that definitely raised an eyebrow; I was particularly amused when Miki said 'oh, Nanami's not into kids, she's just using him to get to her brother'. Because, you know, that's SO much better! Though it does seem to me that we aren't meant to take Tsuwabuki's flashback 100% literally, since that would mean that Touga is like ten years older than Nanami, or else he was just freakishly huge as a child.

Even with the extraordinarily cracky nature of the episode, I've got to wonder at how exactly Tsuwabuki was able to pull off all the stunts he did, with the falling pots and shoving Nanami down the stairs...though I have to concede, the psychology behind his actions make sense, even if they are all kinds of screwed up. And who knows, if he does become a member of Nanami and Kiryu's family, maybe he can bring some much needed sanity and balance to their dynamic. Or, you know, he'll become even crazier than he already is. Fifty-Fifty odds on that, at least.

Umm, yeah, not too much that can be said about this episode...oh, the Shadow Play! That's the first REALLY obtuse one I've seen. I mean, the previous ones, they were pretty easy to work out, but this one where they're cooking curry in the woods and its all screwed up...I, guess that's supposed to be a commentary on Nanami's and Tsuwabuki's immaturity? I'm not really sure.
