Well the past few days have been very emotional. I seem to have about ten types of emotions running through me right now. My parents arrived in Seattle on Saturday the 20th about 5:30 pm. I happen to be passing them on my way home from work. I flagged them down and got them parked in my driveway. My parents started out on Wednesday after work with there drive to Seattle. They live in Manhattan, Kansas. This is about 1800 miles of a drive. I have lived in Seattle 8 years and this is the 4th time they have visited Seattle. I tend to go there vs. them coming here as they do not like to fly so usually with drive. It is easier for me me to fly there, less time and less money. I went there right after my birthday earlier this year. My parents and I are very close. We have a very small family and I am an only child. My parents have known I was gay since I was 15/16. They have always been very accepting and encouraged me to do whatever I needed that made me happy. They are the best parents anyone could ask for and more.
The visit with the parents:
Saturday I showed them the house and took them to the basement apartment where they would be staying. I so love having a guest area for people to stay in. There is a separate bathroom, along with a bedroom, Living room and full kitchen in the basement that open to the back yard. After getting them settled I took them to dinner at the Broadway Grill. Sunday we got up fairly early and headed to Vancouver for the day. We had a good day looking at sights and spending time in Canada. Monday and Tuesday we did shopping and touring Seattle a bit. Tuesday evening I took my parents to see Phantom of the Opera. It was great. Diving into this a bit more. Brian my roommate and I went and purchased tickets about a month before my parents came. We got awesome seats on the floor center 12 rows back from the stage. They were perfect seats. I bought 4 tickets. Two for my parents and then one for myself and one for someone I was planning on inviting. A guy I was interested in and I thought was interested in me but have come to conclude this not to be the case. Which is fine as there are some conflicting issues here anyways and though I thought not to judge it is easier this way. So thus, I needed to find someone who would be interested in going. Now this usually would not be a hard task, but most of my friends happen to already be going, or like my roommates are going along this evening. I happened to be online when Travis was on and we started talking and he was wanting to hang out I told him I would love to hang out and asked him to be my date for the evening. I have known Travis for several years, though he seems to have a habit of disappearing on me. Which is fine because he had things he needed to deal with and getting his life in order. I am hoping this will not continue to be the case as we have allot in common and seem to have a connection. He mentioned that he thought we should date and that we should be boyfriends. This is something I am very much looking forward to exploring. So at 5pm I went and picked Travis up and brought him back to the house were we had ordered Pizza and we all sat down and ate pizza and then got ready to go. Now mind you I am very close to my parents and they are very accepting of me I am still a bit reserved when it comes to showing affection for someone else in public let alone my parents. Something I need to work on as Travis is very much a touchy feely affectionate person. Which I like allot, just not something I am use to. We held hands throughout the show which was nice. Then we came back to the house and ate some more pizza and then I took Travis back to his house to grab his computer and a change of clothes and brought him back and we played computer games for awhile and then went to sleep. I work up to my roommate knocking on my door and finding out someone had tried to break into her car during the night. Though it seems that they were interupted as there was a tool box sitting by the side of her car. she has a Toyota Rav that has a plastic rear, so they had opened up the car through the plastic windows and then rummaged through her stuff, but not taking anything. CD's, Stereo, Money was sitting on the seat and not taken. They also left a cell phone in the passenger side seat. Very strange. I ended up going back to sleep with Travis for a bit, and then we went downstairs and my mother made us breakfast. We chatted for a bit, and then I took Travis home and went to get my sunglasses from the eye place. On the way there I got into a car accident. We were stopped at a light and turning left on a one way street. The truck in front of me waited for the pedestrian to completely cross the crosswalk and the crosswalk started flashing red and he started to go forward when another pedestrian ran right in front of him. The sun was beating right towards us and I ended up rear ending him. There was no damage to the truck in front on me and the guy was super nice. The pedestrian who ran out in front came over to us and apologized. The lucky thing no one was hurt and the insurance will not be notified. I will get a new bumper and have it installed. After getting my glasses we headed home and I stopped at a coffee place to get some caffeine and calm my nerves then we headed home and once Brian was home we then headed South to IKEA. I found a entertainment stand that I want to get and I purchased a wine rack. We then headed to my ex's house where were to have dinner. Edwards parents and his boyfriend Justin made us dinner. I was with Edward for three years and am still very close to him and my parents are friends with Edwards parents. It was good times. Now we are to Thursday. My parents left at 9am this morning returning to Kansas. I always hate saying goodbye, and my mother started crying, so it was quite emotional.
Now I have been doing laundry that has been long over do. Cleaning my bed sheets and my parents. Picking up the house has been todays job. I am going to call Travis here in a few as he is now off work and taking a nap. I know this is long winded and one of these days I will learn how to do the LJ cut.
