Friday evening, and all is well

Well, Hubbie and his friend arrived safely in Germany last night and had sushi. Today they've been mountain biking round a lake, and tomorrow it's the whisky extravaganza. He sounds like he's really enjoying himself.
Eldest has survived her SATS week with only one outburst of tears (yesterday) and is now on the youth group outward bound weekend. This afternoon's thunderstorms did make her wonder what she was letting herself in for, though, so I packed her yet another day's worth of clothes, just in case. I reckon when I pick her up on Sunday, she'll have a whole case full of soggy, muddy clothes to wash!
Youngest resisted going to bed quite well this evening by starting her homework quite late and then asking for help at strategic points while I was Y!M chatting with hiddenhibiscus. She still has her regular swimming lesson and ice skating lesson this weekend, so there are no long lie-ins for us. And that means I'll have to be a lot stricter with her bedtime tomorrow night to compensate for this evening. The eyedrops and new hayfever medicine the doctor gave her on Wednesday seem to be working, so that's good too.
hiddenhibiscus has just given me cause to bounce even more madly about the upcoming US holiday - a girly meet-up with significantowl too!!! Youngest laughed at me when she saw how excited I was! :-D
Much as I've had a good day (and hope that UC still is!), it's not been the best day of all time for a few others on my Flist. Big *hugs* to those of you that need them right now.
