This week is a very kiddie-oriented week (seeing as it's the only week over the summer holidays I'll get to spend time with them during the day).
Monday, after my interview, we went swimming and shopping, and while we were out and about, we tried to visit
slowfox in hospital.
s00 had warned us that he might be at the fracture clinic, but we decided to risk it, and, of course, he wasn't in the ward when we got there. I'm very glad he's now home safely and able to start adjusting to 'life outside' with a pot on (which is bound to be far, far better than 'life inside'!) Hubbie was away in Belfast until today on business, so I spent the evening online, playing games and continuing to read
loupnoir's book. And as usual, I stayed up far too late (2am) and am now regretting it slightly.
Yesterday, after a leisurely start, I took the kids to Bridlington by train. They've been saying for quite a while that they wanted to go on a train, because they couldn't remember the last time they did. Actually, it was about 7 years ago, when we went to Lyon by Eurostar, but as both of them were pre-school at the time, I'm not surprised they don't remember. We had a McD's lunch, wandered along the shore at low tide, they went on a ride, and then we spent £1 on the tuppeny falls in the amusements. They enjoyed themselves, and so did I :-) After Youngest's ice skating lessons, I chatted to
significantowl and
dorotea for a while on such varied topics as what vegetables Harry would grow in his garden, Snape, and the significance of R.A.B. I had the pleasure of Eldest's company for much of that time, as she reappeared saying she couldn't sleep and then sat quietly in the background, reading. Even after I sent her back to bed, she still shouted down the stairs at me later. Definitely needs far less sleep than she used to, and doesn't like being told to stay upstairs :-( Even after reading more book, I was still in bed for just after midnight. Much more sensible.
The kids both had friends round to play this morning, and while they were entertaining themselves, I filled in various forms and made a few phone calls. I dropped the friends off home just after lunch and took mine into town with me to sign on for the last time. Then we went book shopping for Eldest, who's currently into Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider books as well as HBP. All forms and contracts got delivered okay while we were out too. And now it's countdown to teatime, and Hubbie will be back in about half an hour. S'pose I'd better get this posted and think of something to cook.
