Cynicalsnark's Amazing (Vertical) American Adventure - Day 1
So I've been MIA for the past few days, and I apologize if you were dying to read details of my inane life--ha ha (I'm sad). The reason for that is I've been preparing for this big family roadtrip thing my family is doing--heading to a family reunion in Tennessee, heading down to Florida to catch some rays, and then UP to New York to visit my great-aunt who's pretty bad ass so I can't complain. So here are some of the highlights of Day 1 of this trip across Canada's Pants (I think this sounds better than that stupid America's hat thing.) I would've kept this log over twitter but roaming charges are a bitch and I didn't want to pay a dollar per tweet. There you go. --planning on using free wi-fi at different spots like a free bitch.
Day 01:
5:00: My family leaves for the United States, heading towards Windsor. I got no sleep so I am planning on killing something. We have packed way too much and now resemble one of those rickshaws with 50 people on them, like in the old country.
12:00 We have arrived at the U.S. border/customs because my Aunt is from the Philippines. I have gone to family court to do stuff for my job, but nobody looks more uncomfortable than the people we see in this room. There's like 3 chairs, what the hell?
4:00 We have reached Cincinatti, Ohio. I saw nothing because we went to a rest stop and basically that was it.
4:30: What the hell there are BUFFETS for KFC here? $5 for 25 Chicken nuggets? JFC. That's a lot of chicken.
6:00 We're now in Louisville Kentucky. Do they have an MLS team? I saw people playing in an open top stadium, along with a baseball game. I realize light googling would answer this question.
7:30 Flash flooding and rain is coming down like a motherfucka. We had to put on the hazard lights and pull over to the side of the freeway. I was nearly shitting myself.
9:00 More flash flooding, and we realized the storm isn't passing anytime soon. We're settling at a hotel (Where I now type) in Elizabethtown--the same one from that really crappy movie with Orlando Bloom in it. (This describes a lot of movies.) People called me "y'all." It was neat.
Day 01 complete. Onward and upward.
