Title: Muscle Memory
Fandom: Flashpoint
Characters: Sam
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Summary: It was just muscle memory. For the flashpoint_sru prompt #87 a history of violence.
Warnings/Spoilers: None
Author’s Notes: I can't find the episode where Sam tells Jules he's sold his truck and bought a bike, but I swear it happened.
Disclaimer: Definitely not mine.

It was just muscle memory, someone had told him. Why his finger always itched for a trigger. Acclimatization, habituation, a pinch of Pavlovian conditioning. Hell, maybe even something Freudian, although Sam didn’t see how his mother fit into all this, so he doubted that last one.

Even filling up his truck at the pump, the way his hands fit around that nozzle trigger, thumb looking for the safety. The memory of sand underneath his fingernails, and his muscles whispering to squeeze.

Maybe that’s why he got the bike.

But it was just muscle memory, really. No sense worrying about it.
