17 Years of Sunday - and a New Record!

Sep 02, 2019 19:11

With the start of the Fall 2019 semester, I marked the conclusion of my seventeenth year of having a radio show on Sunday afternoons, and the conclusion of my thirteenth year in the 2pm to 4pm time slot.

Perhaps more interestingly, I also started my seventh semester hosting "Soul Delirium." This means that "Soul Delirium" breaks a multiple way tie for "most semesters with the same show" to move into sole possession of first place. The other shows that I previously hosted at least six times are:

Six Consecutive Semesters
- The Body Electric - Summer 1999 through Spring 2001
- Live Freeform or Die Hard - Fall 2007 through Summer 2009 (all with ron0)
- Number 9 - Summer 2013 through Spring 2015 (all with Shari, the last also with Colleen)

Six Total Semesters
- Classical Delirium - Fall 2009 through Spring 2011, plus Summer 2017

And because I clearly have list problems:

Five Consecutive Semesters
- Fantasy for Transmitter and Two Hosts - Fall 2001 through Spring 2013 (with Shari)
- Delirium Without Walls - Summer 2015 through Fall 2016 (with Colleen)

Three Total Semesters
- Delirium - Fall 2002, Fall 2006 (with ron0), Summer 2011 (with Shari)

Everything else was only one semester in duration, unless you count both training on Screw the Buzzard (Spring 1998) and co-hosting it (Spring 1999).

I'm still finding plenty of interesting Soul/R&B by wandering through our vinyl library, but I don't think I'll do this forever. Of course, I said the same thing about doing a radio show once!
