Galápagos 2013 - Contest Winner!
I was traveling. First I was in Atlanta for one night, where my family rendezvoused to see The Hobbit before we flew to Ecuador. After two nights in Quito, we flew to the Galápagos for a full seven nights on the M/Y Letty. The trip started and ended on San Cristobal Island. I'll have a lot more to say about this in future posts; I took extensive notes and more than 900 photos so the raw material is ready to go.
In the meantime, it's time to declare the winner of the third "guess how much work email I have when I get back" contest. This time around I got a mere ten guesses. A wiser man than I might take that as a sign that I shouldn't bother with contests in the future, but let's leave that aside. Our guesses, in numerical order:

When I logged into my work email just a small bit ago I had 375 unread messages. This means that the winner is... drum fill... my cousin Becky at -32. She wins a dinner roughly equivalent to a meal at Buckeye Beer Engine. This will be a bit tricky since she's in San Diego, but I'll figure something out. At worst, I'll send her a gift card for her favorite takeout place, which might come in handy since she and her husband are expecting a baby girl in the near future :-)
The total email received doubled from the last time I held the contest, despite it being the holiday season. Either getting promoted has increased my email intake, or it's a statistically insignificant blip. Your call.
