You May Already Be a Winner: Galapagos Edition
So I'm going to be away from the internet from Thursday morning until the Monday before Christmas. I don't go back to work until the Monday before New Year's Eve. It must be time for another contest to guess how much email I'll get at my work account while I'm gone!
Guess how many NEW emails are in my work account inbox on when I log in and you can win! Here are the rules:
- I'm away from my work internet from 12/12 to 12/24.
- The total includes all emails sent by automated systems such as build servers, continuous integration servers and the like. It includes all meeting requests and any spam that makes it past the filters into my inbox.
- Your response must be left as a comment on this thread by 9amish EST on Monday. All comments are screened, so nobody else can see your guess, thereby hopefully preventing "The Price is Right" syndrome. If your guess is closest to the actual total you win! One guess per person please. Previous winners are not eligible. I must know you in 'real' life.
- I will post the winner on Tuesday 12/24.
- The decision of the judge (aka, me) is final.
The winner gets a free dinner; if you live in Cleveland I'll cook or take you out, and if you don't live in Cleveland we'll figure something out (like me visiting you or buying you a gift card or overnighting you a huge block of cheese or something).
The winning results from the last two concerts were 181 and 128. Since then my team has more than doubled in size, and I got subscribed to a bunch of new mailing lists related to those duties. I got about 5000 work emails last month, and it was a slow month. On the other hand, it's the holiday season, and my company completely shuts down during this time of year. I truly have no idea how much email will come in while I'm gone.
One extra twist - the more guesses I get, the nicer the dinner prize will be. For example, if I get one guess the winner might get Chipotle, but if I get 25 guesses we might go to Deagans, and if I get 50+ guesses? Well, I've never actually been to Lola...
