Cinematheque Highlights for the May/June Schedule

Friday May 28 and Saturday May 29 - Ran. This adaptation of King Lear is the last major Kurosawa film I have yet to see. I'm looking forward to it.

Thursday May 20 (at the Capitol Theater) - 2010 Oscar Nominated Animated Short Films. For those of us who don't belong to SIGGRAPH.

Friday May 28 and Saturday May 29 - A Town Called Panic was the best

Ran is really something after seeing so many kurosawa movies in black and white seeing one in color is quite extraordinary. Also not having a grumpy badass samurai running around lets him out of the box a little. it's a treat, settle in.

This actually won't be my first color Kurosawa Samurai film; I saw Kagemusha a few years back. It wasn't very good, especially compared to Yojimbo, Sanjuro, 7 Samurai and company, but it was in color.
