(no subject)
we left Ohio , wednesday morning about 10am. as we had some errons to run before heading out. we drove to Chattanooga the first night, and stayed in a quaint hotel. 2nd day of driving, found us hitting some slush and getting sprayed with trucks on the road, but did not see much snow.. car got dirty.
we hit the Florida state line about 2pm.. and was able to hit the welcome center, getting our first cup of free Florida orange juince and welcomed by 40 degree weather, you would have thought it was 30 below how the natives were dressed, Nigel and I sort of giggled at one another, saying,you would think it was cold out.
we stopped in Lake City and got some fresh seafood at one of the local places I remember from years gone by with the many vacations with my mom. Ceder River seafood and oyster bar. Nigel was quite impressed with the size portion of fish he got, and said this isn't captain D's pretend fish.. he aint crazy about the fish we have in Ohio. after leaving there. we ventured to Ocala, spending 200 bucks for 4 nights, in a quality inn hotel.. nice, clean, a bit noisey however as we are right next to I-75. we went to sleep and woke up to 70 degrees, and sunshine, we decided to go for an adventure and start driving. we drove to the Ocala national forest, and drove around looking at houses and such, midway through our drive, we come across a very large bridge, nigel took photos of the bridge and was highly impressed. we saw a side road, and well it is there, might as well drive down it.. tucked back away, away from everything was this little river.. can see photos on my flickr page. www.ngunn.net clicking the right or left side of the list of photos.... we then drove further, and about a 1/2 mile away, crossing the road.. a wild.. black bear.. crossed our path.. remarkable. didn't get a photo as we did not expect it to be there.
we stopped at sonny's bar b que , split a lunch, and got back in the jeep and drove to Don Galit's drag race car museum.. was interesting.
went back to the hotel, slept.. next morning again waking up to 70 degree weather and sunshine, decided to hit the ocala flea market.. was okay... seen better flea markets... found a few bargins... got back in the car about 2pm.. headed to the Ocala Jai Lai fronton, to find out no local Jai Lai game was going on. so we placed 2 bids.. one to win and one to show.. and won $1.80. having one , we left haha.. know when to quit.. we got back in the car, came back to the hotel to freshen up then went to a chineese buffet where i saw sushi, fresh fish galore and much more ate for $12.00 !! returned to the hotel for a good night sleep.. today we just sort of had a lazy day, and washed the much needed dirty jeep off from the trip coming down... tomorrow we head to Orlando. .4 days in a time share motel, and rest of the time in a villa house we rented for the rest of the month.. planning on going to Tampa, Daytona, St Augustine and Disney while in Orlando... will write more later.. make sure to check out the photos on the flickr page and check often as we will both be putting photos up , regularly.
want to say CONGRATS to Kristina and David Rackham on the birth of their 6 pound 9 ounce baby boy. DAVID JOHN WILLIAM RACKHAM BORN FEB 7TH 2009. my best friend who lives in Milton Keynes , England.
PART 2... FLORIDA TRIP
Florida vacation.. so far part 2
we drove 441 from ocala to Orlando/Kissimmee , checked into our time share place and then found out we had to drive like 30 miles north to the actual hotel, it is erally nice.. but we are far from all the tourist attractions. Going to time share speel at noon, then siteseeing. may meet a long time internet friend, while here.
we are in Maitland, 1/2 way between Kissimmee and Daytona.
Tomorrow is my 39th birthday.. and for once, i am spending it in SUNSHINE. I used to be so jealous of people who had birthdays in the summer months, cause it always snowed on my birthday and 99.99 percent of the time, birthday parties were/have been canceled due to bad snow.
anyway... not sure what we will do tomorrow.. i thought we would go to a seafood place.. all you can eat.. but with the bypass surgery, that aint much for me. and the price sort of out weighs what I can eat. so not sure.
I know I am gonna take a day and go deep sea fishing.. I hope.. just not exactly sure exactly if i go out of daytona or tampa just yet.. as both have been great experiences for me.
Nigel and I both are enjoying the trip so far.. just cant wait to get stuck in to sight seeing, and going to D I S N E Y !!
