Started my holiday cooking today. I'm going to re-post my clothespin cookie recipe, because
heartflood looses it every year, and share my recipe for Hodge Podge, just about the best chex mix recipe there is.
clothespin cookies
1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
2 egg yolks (beaten)
currant jelly
mint jelly (only if you want to have red and green cookies)
rounded clothespin
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and beat thoroughly. Add flour and vanilla. Roll into small balls. Dip rounded end of clothespin into flour. Press down into ball of dough to make cavity. Fill cavity with jelly. Bake @ 350 for 14 min, or until bottoms of cookies are golden
Hodge Podge
You really need an electric roaster to do this. It makes a metric fuck-ton.
1 Box wheat chex
1 box rice chex
1 box corn chex
1 bag pretzel sticks (broken up)
1 box cheerios
1 lb mixed nuts
1 lb cashews
1 lb margarine (melted)
1 TBSP salt
1 TBSP celery salt
1 1/2 TBSP garlic salt
Pour salts over dry ingredients
Pour margarine over
Roast 3 hrs at 200, mixing thoroughly ever 1/2 hour
All these recipes are from my mimi, and are kinda awesome :)
