And now for a far less serious post!

Whew, seriousness out of the way!

First, an update on my weekend and such -

Last weekend for a nice long Memorial Day weekend Mom invited me down to Florida. It was very nice - I went down there Friday night after work, and as usually happened ended up babbling with Daniel until about 1 in the morning. Truly, truly babbling. I miss my brother.

Saturday, we hung out and relaxed for most of the morning and generally caught up as it were. Then we went and did something that in my two years of living down there I always wanted to do and never did - I went to Morikami Gardens. Morikami Gardens are a group of Japanese Gardens showing different traditional styles. Apparantly the area used to be a Japanese colony, growing pineapples, before the Army kicked them off the land around WWII. However, George Morikami held on to his land and eventually donated to the county - which eventually became the gardens. You learn something new all the time! Anyway, the gardens were beautiful. And there was an exhibit of bonsai trees that was amazing - 30 year old ficus bonsai that look like mini banyan trees! Very cool.

That night, to finish our Japanese theme, we went to a Japanese buffet restaurant and ate really yummy sushi. Mmmm, sushi.

Sunday, we saw Pirates. Yes, that took most of our day. No spoilers, but I agree with all reviews I've seen - convoluted and long, but a whole lot of fun. I just grinned through most of that movie. And in my true "good movie" form, I'm still thinking about it. Then, for the evening, we hung out, watched Doctor Who episodes and silly movies, snacked, and generally enjoyed being together.

Monday, Mom and I went to the crazy Florida flea market together. And for those that don't know, this in not your typical flea market. This is a mall for rich old ladies who like to get bargain designer knock offs and other random stuff. It's quite something, and always worth a trip. We never, ever get through the whole thing. I came home with...4 things from there. A really funky mid length skirt, a pair of embroidered jeans (only $29! Woot!), and two more silly items that I'll explain momentarily...

Flight home Monday was fine - most uneventful, aside from that it was the first time I've ever seen lightening from a plane window (cool, actually), and the first time I've ever heard an entire plane "eep" in unison. Minor turbulence with one brief drop roller coaster moment. If it had kept going, I'd have been unhappy and possibly ill. But one drop? "Eeep!.... hehehe"

And now, for more on the babble end - I'm obsessed with costumes again!

Actually, what it is is I'm getting psyched for Dragon*con. I finally have gotten started on my She Ra costume. My old white dance skirt has finally met the costuming scissors. And in silliness that
somerandomgeek came up with, he and I are also going to dress as Lois and Peter Griffin from Family Guy. (All I need for that costume is a green shirt and a wig - I have already found everything else)

And now I have a third costume in the works! Kaylee from Firefly, specifically her costume from the first episode, sitting outside the ship to get passengers. See, when I was at the gardens, I found a paper parasol that I realized would be cute. And then, while at the flea market, I found a bright blue asian style jacket and an asian print t-shirt. Two days, and suddenly I have most of a costume! All I need now are her coveralls - Army Navy Surplus, remove the arms, add a teddy bear patch and have fun getting them good and messy - voila!

Yes, I'm having way too much fun with costumes.

I also am madly working on inventory so I'll be able to make money on Dragon*con with any luck. 5 pendants made in an hour last night! Somehow, I don't think there will be much WoW playing for a while.
